“Aspen Power Catamarans recently launched their new flagship 44’ C128 that features twin Suzuki 300HP outboards. This is a bit different for Aspen as all their previous models feature dissimilar power, but this new model has identical twin engines.

A little background about Aspen will help explain why this makes sense. On most catamarans both hulls are the same, but Aspen’s founder and designer Larry Graf has developed and patented a PROA cat hull design where one hull is a third thinner than the other. The thinner hull maintains the buoyancy required to keep the boat running true but requires less energy to move it which makes the boats more fuel efficient.
