Stretching 46 feet long with a beam of nearly 14 feet, the new Aspen C128 catamaran features more than 800 square feet of living space. To put that into perspective, the average new apartment in New York City is 700 square feet. Since 2008, Aspen Power Catamarans has carved out a niche in a crowded market. Its catamarans feature asymmetrical hulls powered by one diesel engine. Aspen’s patented Proa catamaran hull, designed by founder Larry Graf, features a portside hull that’s 35 percent smaller than the starboard one, reducing drag. Since the boats use a single diesel engine on the starboard side, there’s no running gear on the other side, further reducing drag and weight.
